Student Pathways Experience

12 March 2024

Student Pathways Experience

Haileigh, a Year 11 student at Damascus College Ballarat, is an aspiring Neurologist with an impressive journey in STEM.

In 2022, Haileigh participated in the Ballarat Tech School Girls in STEM program. By 2023, she advanced to become a Student Leader for the program and completed a 5-day work experience at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute with Professor Misty Jenkins, who is also Co-Head of Research Strategy at The Brain Cancer Centre.

To celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science in early 2023, Haileigh had the opportunity to interview Professor Misty Jenkins, highlighting her dedication and passion for science.

Haileigh's story is a powerful example of the pathways created through participation in programs at the Ballarat Tech School such as Girls in STEM, our student leadership program, and supported industry experiences.

Watch the full interview below to learn more about Haileigh's inspiring journey and the opportunities available through participating in programs at the Ballarat Tech School.
